Alta Via of Ligurian Mounts

The ridge that joins the Beigua Mount to the Punta Martin, crossing the territory of the Montana Community Argentea, includes three legs of the Alta Via, an excursion route that in 43 hamlets connects the two extremities of Liguria, from Ventimiglia (IM) to Ceparana (SP): a long bewitched distance, that allows to walk in mountain, sweeping with the look from the sea to the alpine arc.

The Alta Via is an integral part of the excursion plan "Italy Path", that puts in connection Valle d’Aosta, Piemonte, Liguria, Toscana and Umbria. Moreover, just for the geographic characteristic of connection between the two principal Italian mountainous chains - the Alps and Appennines - the Alta Via becomes a path of European importance, the symbol of the union between mountain territories: in fact is inserted in the European routes E1, that starts from Flensburg on the North Sea, and E7, that connects the Pyrenees to the Park of Adda. And it is not uncommon to meet, in the spring months, English or German families that choose just these paths for the first holidays in the open air.

Our territory is crossed from the 20° leg - from Prato Rotondo to the Step of Faiallo, the point in which the route is nearer to the sea – the 21° leg - from the Step of Faiallo to the Step of Turchino - and the 22° leg - from the Step of Turchino to the Colla of Praglia. For the greater part of the distance, the trail marker - the red small flag with AV symbol - coincides with the two blue little balls that indicate the path of the Tyrrhenian - Po watershed.

The first two legs are included in the regional natural Park of Beigua: the Alta Via can in fact be defined "a park in the park", because joins great part of the protected areas of Liguria.
