AGUETA - PASSU DU FIGU - GUA ALL'OMU - CAMPO:
Left the car in locality Agueta (240 m, Arenzano) you take left the dirt road to cover for about 2 km following the trailmarker (that leads to the Tina lake) until the Gua step.
Here you leave the dirt road, that climbs towards right, and continue the route, turning, on the left of the road, into a path in slight descent, in order to leave it shortly after and following the segnavia on the right. After about half an hour of easy way you reach the step du Figu, where you cross the Leone river.
Here the naturalistic way starts, marked from the trailmarker C 5, route that is developed from the step du Figu to the locality of Gua all’Omu, putting in connection two other paths, already well-known from the hikers: from a part that one – only just described - that leads from the Agueta to the Tina lake (trailmarker ) and, from the other, that from the inhabited place of Campo that leads to the Argentea Mount (directed way, trailmarker: ).
The path, utilized in the second half of the nineteenth century and in the first of the twentieth-century, has gone gradually in disuse, until a nearly complete closing, caused from the vegetation. However it has conserved a fair bottom, and so the scout of C.N.G.E.I. Section of Arenzano, in collaboration with the Comunità Montana Argentea, have realized a good intervention of reclamation, equipping moreover the route with illustrative showcases and park benches in wood in the more panoramic points.
The main reason of interest of the path is the historical character, both because in the past it was utilized from the peasants who transported on shoulders the hay for the cattle, cut with a scythe in the meadows at high altitude, and because in the thirties it has been used and arranged from the Forester, in occasion of the reforestation of black pine in the state property Preserve of Lerone valley.
Moreover the path covers an area where many exemplary of animals (roe, wild boar, dormouse, squirrel, buzzard, dipper, coluber) and of plants (trees like the black pine, the ilex, the orniello and the sorb, shrubs like the heather, broom and the alaterno, flowers like the odorous Daphne and the fraxinella) live.
To the step du Figu you cross the Leone river and turn into a path that climbs rather steep to left, marked both from the trailmarker , and from trailmarker (the high Leone valley). After some hairpin bends, the two trailmarkers separate: ours continues in straight line, while the other turns to right.
From here, the naturalistic route follows the recesses and the protrusions of the side, crossing a lot of streams feed from small hidden sources that give good water and that improbably dry up in the periods of maximum heat and drought.
Shortly after the crossroad, you can reach with a slight detour the Sambugo shelter, where there is a park bench. Exceeded the Guadi river and the Mou river, you meet the "path of the engineer" (trailmarker : from Campo to Negrone Bridge), than overlaps for a tract our route, and you reach "Le pose du Campanin", park benches in stone on which the peasants put the hay cargo. Along the path in fact have been conserved in fair conditions - and have been brought back to light - part of the realized works in order to render it more practicable: dry walls that supported the edge, “schive” in stone for the water and, of particular interest, the "pose".
Crossed the river Cu du Mundu, the "path of the engineer" come off in descent on left and our route continue on the right, in order to go up gradually until the shelter, now unfit for use, of the Rou Russu or Giassu de Vacche, used from the Forester during the reforestation works: this is an ideal place of pause, near the beautiful river Giassu de Vacche.
The path, climbing back slight along the side, exceeds the Costa di L’Erbin and crosses the homonymous river, in order to arrive shortly after to the Gua all’Omu and to the crossing with the route of the white star, to turn in descent. You walk for a tract in south-east direction until the coast of Pamusche and you turn on the left: in the area below the path It’s interesting to note a small colony of pines very strange: old as age, but small of height, with few crabbed branches and oriented towards the coast, unmistakable sign of the inclemency of the cold winds that blow from north.
Following the white star and omitting the various crossings with other paths that cover the area, you come down in short until Campo (locality of Arenzano, 138 m).
