CAMPO – PONTE NEGRONE (Engineer path):
You arrive with the car until the locality Campo (150 m - Municipality of Arenzano) and you follow a dirt road, marked from an in white field, that climbs to the right, leaving behind the sweet agricultural landscape in order to penetrate in the typical environment of the maquis.
After some hairpin bends, left the branch that leads to the Mount Argentea
(directed way, trailmarker ),
you turn right into a path, that climbs quickly reaching a very panoramic area,
where the gaze can sweep from the rough sides of the Mount Rama until the expanse
of the sea. In this way the two trailmarkers overlap, and they parted definitively
a bit later, in Ciazubellu locality: the (trailmarker)
goes to the left and the "engineer path" continues straight.
The typical geomorphology of serpentine cliffs has determined in this area a
rough landscape, where the earth and the water dominate and where the vegetation
- characterised above all from the black pine - tries to conquer a space on the
little ground at disposal.
The path meets gushing sources and cool streams that come down from the Mount
Argentea slopes, like the Erbin river and the Giassu de Vacche river,
than flows into the Lerone torrent near Negrone Bridge.
Continuing, you penetrate in a rather wild area: the toponyms the Bricassu
(bad mount) and Cu du Mundu (the bottom of the world) are indicative of the
particular characteristics of these places.
Shortly before the Cu du Mundu river, the "engineer path" is overlapped for
a short
way to the naturalistic distance marked from the trailmarker
(from the step du Figu alla Gua to the Omu), from which is separated after the "pose
del Campanin", panoramic point where there is also comfortable bench in wood.
From here the path begins to come down towards the valley floor and reaches
the river Negrone, that flows between evocative stony faces, once used like climb arena.
The path follows the river course, meeting some small lakes of moderate depth and a
characteristic source of sulphurous water, and arrives to the Negrone Bridge, where
the route of the finishes : in this point, from the confluence of the Negrone
river and the Leone river, the Lerone torrent is formed.
For the return, rather than to cover backwards the route, is suggested
to cross the bridge and to turn into the naturalistic distance marked from
the trailmarker
(from S. Anna di Lerca to Negrone Bridge), devised from the Comunità Montana Argentea, to
conclusion of a project of environmental education, realized in the secondary schools of
Arenzano and Cogoleto. Continuing along this route, you meet scrub areas in which dominate
the heather, the alaterno, the myrtle, the cistus and the broom, alternated to small wood
of black hornbeam, chestnut tree, orniello and black alder.
The naturalistic path, exceeded a ford on the torrent Lerone, leads
in short to the Motta locality, where you meet the asphalted road. Leaving
to this point the trailmarker and following in climb the road (trailmarker: ),
you are in an agricultural area rich of cultivated fields and of olive trees
and fruit trees, until returning, after some bends, to the departure point of
the excursion.
