The route winds along the wild valleys of the Lerca and Leone streams, characterised from narrow gorges rich of water, among the buttresses of the southern tops of the group of Beigua.
The interest of the way is not only naturalistic, but also historical, for the presence of the Bridge de Ratte, Dark Ages origin, of the dry walls constructed to support the characteristic Ligurian “terraces" and of the ruins of ancient paper mill.
)
The way starts from the inhabited place of Giutte in the Municipality of
Mele and proceeds in the Rio Martino valley, where you can meet the hardwood
forest (orniello, roverella, black carpino) and the exemplary of black alder,
characteristic of the humid area. Exceeded the forest, you pass one footbridge
on the Veleno river, recently restructured, and get into the way of the "Giassi",
along one old muletrack, used in the past for the wood transport.
)
The path is developed hillside and puts in connection two other paths, already
well-known from the hikers: Agueta-Lago della Tina (trail marker T) and Campo-Monte
Argentea (trail marker white star). The way is very interesting from the historical
point of view, because in the past was used from the peasants, who carried
the hay on one’s back for the cattle; it deserves however of being remembered
also for the lively streams, for the fauna and the flora richness and for
the vast panorama, that can be admired from the coast of Erbin. To better
enjoy all this, along the path you can find informative showcases and bench
in wood.
